Workshop
Description
This is a beginner to intermediate
level course designed to provide a basic working knowledge of biofeedback
assisted behavioral therapy for bladder and bowel disorders and chronic
pelvic pain syndromes. This workshop meets all of the didactic and practicum
hours required by the BCIA for Certification in Pelvic Muscle Dysfunction
Biofeedback.
Workshop Objectives

Students will understand and be able
to explain to patients the anatomy and physiology of pelvic floor musculature
and urinary and gastrointestinal systems.

Proficiency will be gained in the assessment
of pelvic floor muscle dysfunction including the use of vaginal and rectal
surface EMG

To become skilled in the design of
treatment plans for bowel/bladder disorders and pelvic pain syndromes using
a variety of modalities such as exercise, biofeedback, bladder and bowel
retraining, diet and neuromuscular relaxation

Considerations/Lab Attire
This workshop will NOT involve any
internal examination, and participants will stay fullyclothed throughout
the workshop. Participants will be provided with their own internal
sensors for self-insertion and use in the workshop labs. Please wear
comfortable clothing.
